Barcelona prodigy makes history, Spain start their World Cup campaign in style

Spain head started their World Cup campaign in vogue as ‘La Roja’ scored seven goals past Costa Rica to break their previous record of most goals scored in a World Cup match (6-1 against Bulgaria in 1998).

Luis Enrique’s side dominated with whopping 81.3% possession, and held Costa Rica shotless throughout the match.

Gavi became the youngest Spaniard ever to score in World Cup with a potential ‘Goal of the Tournament’ contender. The 18-year-old was given the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his impressive performance - scoring and assisting a goal each.



Barcelona forward Ferran Torres scored a brace in Spain’s predominant victory. The 22-year-old has not lived up to the expectations at club level, and fans are hoping the youngster redeems himself following the World Cup.
