Mikel Arteta talks the biggest fear of a manager and Barcelona rumors

The Arsenal manager has conceded there will come a time when he has outstayed his welcome at the Emirates in the eyes of those calling the shots over in the red half of north London.

Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on Arteta to replace Xavi Hernández as the head coach in case the former Barça captain is shown the door for his string of lacklustre performances at the European level.

As a manager, probably it’s the (biggest) fear of getting sacked.

Mikel Arteta admitted his departure is “inevitable”. He added: “I made a very conscious decision the day I made the decision to become a coach - I said: 'It will happen. Today, tomorrow, in a month's time, in 10 years' time. I don't know when it will happen.”

“That cannot drive my emotion and this cannot be the reason why I do certain things or not. For me now the fear is to let people down.”

However, reports also suggest Barcelona have no interest in parting ways with Xavi before the end of this season regardless of Europa League relegation for the second consecutive year.

Mikel Arteta-led Arsenal are sitting atop the Premier League table – with only one defeat in 10 league games – and are also a favorite to win the UEFA Europa League, where they will be competing against the likes of United, Atlético and Barça.
