Messi, 35, will take part in the FIFA World Cup for the last time in his career after announcing it would be his last appearance at the tournament.
The former Barca striker has been in scintillating form for Paris Saint-Germain this season, scoring 12 goals and contributing 14 assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.
Argentina are among the favorites to win the competition and in doing so present Messi with his latest piece of silverware to add to his glittering trophy cabinet.
Pedri backs the Blaugrana icon to achieve the feat, but only if Spain don’t win the FIFA World Cup.
Pedri said to MARCA:
“I think Messi deserves a World Cup. Let’s hope we win it, but if Spain don’t win it, let him win it with Argentina”
The closest Messi has been to winning the FIFA World Cup was in 2014 when The Albiceleste reached the final against Germany.
However, Die Mannschaft Mario Gotze broke Argentina’s hearts when he scored an extra-time winner at the Maracana Stadium in Brazil.
Argentina begin their campaign in Group C against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, November 22.
Lionel Scaloni’s men will next face Mexico on Saturday November 26 and Poland on Tuesday November 30.
