The next possible captain: Who and why

Being a captain for football club Barcelona means more than just being a leader. A captain is the one communicating, motivating, and showing the right and straight way for the rest of players. Gerard Pique was an official captain for Football club Barcelona since 2018, but following his exit, Barcelona will begin to find his captain-replacement as soon as possible.

The two names, according to SPORT journalist Ivan San Antonio, who possibly could replace Pique´s captaincy is Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski.
 
·       Marc Andre Ter Stegen
The choice of Ter Stegen sounds appealing to the majority of Barca fans and that is truly according to many reasons. Marc is one of the few active players on the squad who has been playing for the club, for the longest. He has shown great character since the beginning of his barca career and has always been top notch in terms of motivating and speaking. On top of that, he has experience in captaining the team for a few games now. All these factors gives him an edge and makes him a good candidate for being the next captain for the team.

·       Robert Lewandowski
The choice upon Robert Lewandowski to be next main captain of the team, makes sense. He is not just a leader, but since his arrival, he has taken a huge responsibility upon his shoulders to guide and be the next main star of the team. He is one of the oldest players, which gives him an edge upon his football experience. The only critical point towards his choice is simple; he has only wore the Blaugrana shirt for a few months.

The final choice won’t be easy, but all the points and arguments will be taken internal with Xavi Hernandez to take the final decision. Whether its Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Robert Lewandowski or even a third player, it will be someone who will understand the team and guide the way for squad.
