Barcelona president Joan Laporta is considering to lodge an offer for Bayern Munich’s right-back Benjamin Pavard.

He said: “Benjamin Pavard is a REAL option for us. His contract expires in 2024 and he wants to leave.”

The France international joined the Bavarians from Stuttgart in 2019, and has since added several trophies to his name — including three Bundesliga titles and a Champions League.

Pavard, however, has entirely ruled out renewing with the German side, and wants to leave as soon as possible.

Bayern apparently opt for their recent signing Noussair Mazraoui ahead of the Frenchman, and this has left the 26-year-old frustrated. This has driven Pavard to call it quits for the Bundesliga giants, and look for other options across Europe in pursuit of regular playing time.

In other news, the 2018 World Cup Goal of the Tournament-winner has been accused of “creating a toxic environment” in France locker room.

According to MARCA, the French defender was “heavily criticised” by France head coach Didier Deschamps, which triggered a change in attitude.

He’s also been accused of leaking information to the press and making “inappropriate remarks” about his team-mates.

Héctor Bellerín, who recently signed for Barcelona as a free agent, has been unable to live up to the expectations as yet. The Spain international’s unappealing performances has led Barça to seek other options in the transfer market.

The Catalan club has also identified other right-backs including United’s Diogo Dalot and Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, but president Laporta has only confirmed their interest in Benjamin Pavard up to this point.
