Chelsea are interested in signing Memphis Depay

After securing the signature of Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana from Molde, Chelsea are interested in bringing Barcelona forward Memphis Depay to further bolster their frontline.

The Blues have lost Armando Broja to a serious knee injury, who is not expected to return before the end of the season.

Chelsea had also signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona last summer, but the Gabon international has been unable to live up to the expectations.

Memphis Depay was crucial for the Blaugranas last season, scoring 12 goals and making 2 assists in the league.

However, owing to Barcelona’s ongoing financial difficulties, the club is looking out for cashing in on the Dutchman.

Barcelona and Italian club Juventus were close to landing a deal for Memphis Depay, but it was ruled out just before the end of summer transfer window.

Chelsea explored a deal for Depay in the summer before moving for Aubameyang and could reignite their interest after his positive displays for the Netherlands at the World Cup. Depay has six months left on his Barcelona contract and is available in January.
