Lionel Messi confirms he doesn’t desire a Barcelona return

Paris Saint-Germain are close to renewing newly-crowned World Cup winner Lionel Messi, whose contract runs till June 2023. On top of that, the Argentinian feels very happy at the club, and has ruled out return to Barcelona.

Reports also suggest the 35-year-old is disappointed with Barcelona president Joan Laporta for failing to renew his contract, which forced Messi to leave his boyhood club, and signing new players like Ferrán Torres.

The Argentina international guided his team to their third-ever World Cup trophy — scoring 7 goals and making 3 assists, also snagging his second World Cup Golden Ball.

Although Lionel Messi struggled to fit in into PSG’s system last season, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has found his magical feet back this season — contributing to 26 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for the Parisians.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was present to watch Lionel Messi lift the World Cup in Qatar. He reportedly put forward an offer to extend his contract for two more seasons, which the Argentinian accepted and wants to continue playing top-flight football until his new PSG contract runs out.
